Rescue management training day

Waves Shape

We gathered on what could only  be described as a small beach beside the (almost) azure blue waters of St. Andrews Lake, Haling, Kent, for a terrific BSAC multi branch collaboration training day, the event was Rescue Management Scenario’s, part of the Dive Leader Training module. It was cold, blustery with showers but it didn’t dampen the Lead Instructor Steve Gellard from Loughton Divers BSAC, determination to put the trainees through their paces. The scenario’s ranged from a single to multi casualties, including a lost diver, with his wide wandering around, wondering why she can’t find him. The roll playing was performed by both amateur & professional actors ( the amateurs were very amateur). Each student too it in turn to be the Rescue Manager who coached in situational awareness and to develop, plan, do, act thinking.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable day and every one came away with a big grin on their face, we learnt a lot and laughed so much, what great team!

Thanks to Steve Gellard, Lead Instructor Loughton Divers
