The course will cover.
The basics of radio operation
The correct channels(frequencies) to use
Distress, emergency and medical assistance procedures
Making ship to shore telephone calls
Global maritime distress and safety system (GMDSS)
Digital selective calling (DSC)
Emergency position indicating radio beacons
Search and rescue (SART)
The course will take place here at the Club.
Upon completing the course and passing the examination the candidate will be issued
with a short range radio licence.
The course will be practical and theory lessons in the use of a VHF radio.
The candidate will then sit and exam. Upon completing the course and passing the
examination the candidate will be qualified to use short wave radio and will be issued
with a licence.
