| History
Built in 1914 by Smiths Dock Co of Hull. She was
powered by a three cylinder triple expansion engine with a single
boiler. Built originally as a fishing trawler she was owned by the
Royal Navy & equipped with a 6lb gun. The Lancer II was on route
Newhaven when she was rammed by HM Yacht Vagrant who was traveling with
out lights! The impact made a hole in her & immediately began
to take in water. The Vagrant made a vain attempt to tow her, but her
fate was sealed.
|
| Present state She sits upright on the bed with her bow being the highest point and surprisingly intact. she can easly be penertrated. The ships winch is still there covered in deadmans fingers and the ships boilers. she still maintains a ship like shape and attracts lots of marine life. |
